Indian Tourism and Travel Department under the banner of Government of India, has an fantastic promotion scheme for promoting tourism in India. And thats called, Incredible India. Very true, India is really increadible. Before getting details of this campaign, lets discuss what we find unique about India around us. First thing which obviously comes to the mind is the Language.No one would believe until visits rural India, about the language flow in India. Every 100 km (perhaps I am telling more) native language in India gets changed.Language undergo changes in these aspects :

Words : Words dont change heavily, but they see a variation in their pronunciation every few kilometers. Words related to agricutlure dont alter so easily, as there remains a continuous contact between farmers of nearby regions. And words have been invented as per requirements and produces and historical links also. And when a word travels few such regions, it gets completely changed. This is one of reasons why there are so many states with different languages in India.In north India, one can easily find the languaes quite similar grammatically. Like Gujarathi, Punjabi , Marwadi etc.The difference lies in these languages is of words, and we have seen how these words change their form in regions.

Grammar : As discussed above, the grammatical knowledge in India can be divided in two categories : North Indian and South Indian . States with different languages have different words and usage, but the grammar is almost same. That makes our theory more dominanr over the language issue. Same in south Indian languages, states have different languages but almost same grammar. One strange thing is observed, that Indian languages contain several words from sanskrit, but no grammar adopted from the world's oldest language.

These days, if you are young and don't have a twitter or orkut account , then you are not worth talking in India. I get daily several types of request from several social community sites. Youngs are greatly attracted to such sites and spend several hours on social networking sites. So what could be the possible reason behind so much of attraction to such communities. At present there are 11 exchanges are active in India,inclusive of commodity exchanges. The second biggest exchange in India is Bombay Stock Exchange established in 1875 . It is popularly known as Dalal Street and the road sign board on the Dalal street says " Wealth is Health " . Dalal means a trader in Hindi.And hence the street which hosts the BSE is now called Dalal Street.


In India, this is a very common culture of giving alternative names to places like Vishakhapattanam is Vizag and Tiruvanatpuran is Trivendram. So nothing so unexceptional if stock exchanges are called dalal street. The venue of the this stock exchange also has an interesting story. The first venues for trading were not under roof, but in open under banyan trees.James M. Maclean inaugurated the Brokers Hall in January 1899.Premchand Roychand was influential broker those days,and he assisted in setting out traditions, conventions, and procedures for the trading of stocks at Bombay Stock Exchange and they are still being followed. In 1928, the plot was chosen for constructing exchange's building, and in 1930 it was built, what we see today.




And as the number of brokers started growing, BSE was shifted from place to place, and then finally to the famous Dalal Street.




One more fact about BSE is that, till 2002, it was The Stock Exchange, Mumbai, then it was Bombay Stock Exchange till 19 Aug. 2005. And then Bombay Stock Exhange Limited.Before 1995, there was system of shouting and trading, but then after it adopted BOLT BSE Online trading, and lateron, 1997, the online trading was adopted all through India.At present, there are more than 4000 of various sectors are listed in BSE.

Though such steps are not worth to go beyond the real ground scenerio of corruption in India. There are several administrative and public service departments, both under the banner of State government and also under the banner of Central Government.Each department has a minister, and few IAS secretaries to make all the rules and manage the functioning of the department. Though, due to medio and little public awakening these days, corruption has got a setback. Like India has improved its position in internation corruption ranking to 84 among 180 contestents. Improved score from 2.7 to 3.4 , but still India has miles to go.

Not only service sectors like Public welfare, rural engineering, water irrigation, teaching, health, housing etc are home to corruption, but off service sectors like Sports are also corruption centric in India. But with multilayer interference of media, and Right to information and also public awareness, corruption is now on a negative growth. Still, politics and public service sectors are still considered good income sources , and thats why India has 1 politician on every 100 people. States now work on Panchayat raj, where even small villages are now hosting five to ten leaders in decision making positions.And this is again giving rise to corruption. The money which was distributed among Tehsil level politicians and officers, are now to be shared among locals also.Obviously there are exception to corruption also. I know many people who have worked all through there life without corruption with full honesty. With IT and other important growing sectors, hope India would eliminate corruption from roots and leaves.

The major investment of Indian Film Industry is from bollywood, and offcourse the major returns. I have got data of 2005 , in which turnover for Hindi Film Industry was $575 million compared with $23 billion in Hollywood. Thats Correct we are still far behind the Hollywood in turnover, I figure out certain reasons behind this, one very important is Diversification of audience, means, Hindi Film Industry, (more popular as Bollywood, I am not using the word Bollywood because film industry usually opposes to be called by this name , they need their unique identity, which is Hindi Film Industry )

So we were talking about several reasons why Indian film industry is far behind Hollywood despite huge market. First mistake we make is seeing India as a whole, but the above statistics are related only to the hindi Film industry, based in Mumbai . There are several other such regional industries exist in India. The regional is only term associated with them , otherwise they do a hefty business.Instances of such industries are Telugu Film Industry and Tamil Kannada and also Malayalam Film Industry, others include Assamese, Bhojpuri, Gujrathi, Marathi Orriya etc.
So the revenue gets shared among these languages. There is a localization of Film Industry in India. Second issue for comparatively low revenue of Hindi film industry is low fares compared to US and other theatres. I am adding one more advantage that Hollywood enjoys is world over release. Though Indian movies are now released world wide, but their targeted audience is Movie language speaking folks, whereas the english is more common all over the world, and dubing also helps them to be popularized.


It is said in India that movies depict the real face of India. People try to in place of characters of film, they try to visualize themselves in the movies.South Indian actors enjoy popularity in more depth , if not in numbers in Hindi actors. South Indian Film industry has seen a trend of actors becoming successful politicians. Perhaps to encash the popularity more.

Nothing wrong in telling that,Hindi movies have now started taking a risky , but more potential path, a path to subjective movies. In 90's we have seen a not-so-formula movies like DDLJ, Mohabbatein, Lagan etc.But from the last three years,Indian film industry has seen a change , a change in the path of subjective movies. Now think tank of Hindi movies do not rely on the formula movies of villain abducting heroine, and hero saving her life , hero may be poor and girl is rich or vice versa. Indian film industry now focuses on subjects which affect society. These off beat movies are becoming first choice of viewers. Though south indian film industry is yet to see turn around from formula movies to message movies . Amir Khan starred Tare Jameen Par was huge hit in India, with a message of not pressurizing students for higher marks and grades in exams.

But with these subjective movies one thing bollywood is surely going to loose is the taste of bollywood dialogues like " Mere pas maa hai " type of dialogues are now history in Indian movies.In beginning of this decade past to that , Indian movies remained full of dialogues like " Har Taj sar ke liye hota hai , par har sar Taj ke liye nahi " (Meaning every Crown is for one head, but not every head is for Crown " There are several classic dialogues in bollywood movies which can be seen here :
